Account Deletion
We're sorry to see you go. If you wish to delete your ByTheBook account, you can do so at any time. This page explains what happens when you delete your account and how to proceed.
Warning: This action is permanent
Deleting your account will permanently remove:
- Your entire book library and reading history
- All notes, ratings, and reviews you've written
- Your followed authors and series preferences
- Lending history and saved contacts
- AI recommendations and reading preferences
- Your profile information and settings
How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your account directly within the app:
Steps to delete your account:
- Open the ByTheBook app on your device
- Tap the Profile tab (person icon in the bottom navigation)
- Scroll down and tap Account Settings
- Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the screen
- Type "delete my account" to confirm
- Tap the Permanently Delete Account button
What Happens After Deletion
Once you confirm deletion, your account and all associated data will be permanently removed from our servers. This process is immediate and cannot be reversed.
You will be automatically logged out of the app. If you wish to use ByTheBook again in the future, you'll need to create a new account.
Data Retention
After account deletion, we do not retain any of your personal data. All information is permanently erased from our systems, including:
- Email address and profile information
- Book collection data
- Reading activity and statistics
- Push notification tokens
- Any other data associated with your account
